French Stewart is an American actor and dancer who is known for his roles as Harry Solomon on the NBC sitcom “3rd Rock from the Sun”, as Inspector Gadget in the 2003 direct-to-video film “Inspector Gadget 2”, and as Chef Rudy on the CBS sitcom “Mom”. Stewart made his screen debut playing Lieutenant Ferretti in “StarGate”.
After graduating from the American Academy of Dramatic Arts, Stewart joined the regional theater and toured with them for seven years before breaking into television in 1992 with the role of Razor Dee, a DJ on the final season of “The New WKRP in Cincinnati”. He earned his Screen Actors Guild (SAG) card by performing as part of the cast of Hanna Barbera’s “Shakey Quakey” tour, but he was fired from the role after he removed the head of his costume in front of the children.
That event did not ruin his career, though, as he went on to appear in several movies including “Stargate” (1994) as Lieutenant Louis Ferretti, “Leaving Las Vegas” (1995), “The Poison Tasters” (1995), “Magic Island” (1995), “Glory Daze” (1996), McHale’s Navy (1997), “Love Stinks” (1999), “Clockstoppers” (2002) as Earl Doppler and “Wedding Daze” as Nathan Bennett IV.He also contributed his voice as the character of Icarus to the Disney animated film “Hercules”.
From 1996 to 2001, he played the role of Harry Solomon in the successful show, “3rd Rock From the Sun”. More recently, he has been a regular on the sitcom “The Middle”, playing Principal Cameron.
